Volesky, Adeline E.
Adeline E. Volesky, 100, of Swisher, died Friday, June 28, 2013, at Heritage Nursing and Rehab Center. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 1, at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW. Burial will follow in Blain Cemetery near Walford. Visitation will be one hour prior to services Monday at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids.
Adeline was born Sept. 20, 1912, in rural Linn County, the daughter of Joseph and Lottie (Pirkl) Stancel. She married Richard Kaplan on Feb. 15, 1945. She later married Edward Volesky on Feb. 10, 1969. Adeline worked all of her life both on the farm and in the house. She loved gardening, canning, playing cards, cooking, baking, and fishing. She was proud of her Czech heritage. She enjoyed listening to polkas and making kolaches. Adeline was a very kind and loving person and made others around her feel special.
Adeline is survived by her sister, Lottie Yeries of Hills; a brother, George Stancel of Marshalltown; two grandchildren, Alan (Joy) Pavlicek and Lynn Pavlicek (Bob Wagner), both of Cedar Rapids; and one great-grandson, Austin Pavlicek.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Richard Kaplan and Edward Volesky; her sisters, Evelyn Bush, Rosemary McDowel, and Alma Stancel; and her brothers, Milo, Louis, Lumir, and Joseph Stancel.
