Wylo Wagner, 89, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, formerly of Waukon, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, April 4, 2018, at his home. Celebration of life: 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 21, 2018, at The Legacy Center at Murdoch-Linwood, Cedar Rapids. Entombment: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Wylo was born Nov. 16, 1928, in Monona, Iowa, the son of George and Ellen (Amundson) Wagner. He proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1954 to 1956 in Korea. Wylo married Maureen Decker on Sept. 16, 1957, in Waukon, Iowa. He was a lifelong dairy farmer and loved carpentry work. Wylo enjoyed constructing buildings and, in his later years, custom furniture. He also was a member of the VFW.
Wylo is survived by his wife, Maureen of Cedar Rapids; children, Beverly (Mike) Bassett of Center Point, Eric Wagner of North Liberty and Lori (Greg) Strait of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Keefe, Brody, Connor, Zachary, Adam, Joshua and Steven; nine great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Mary Ann Wagner of Bellevue, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; stepmother, Ethel Wagner; siblings, Robert Wagner, Jean Ann Shoemake, Shirley Brown and Leatrice Lansing; and brothers-in-law, Cal Shoemake, Jack Brown, Bill Madden and Bob Lansing.
The family would like to give a special thanks to UnityPoint Hospice, especially Kim, Brenda and Bobby Jo, for their loving care of Wylo.
