Robert "Dennis" Zeman, 79, of Elberon, passed away Wednesday, June 27, 2018, at Sunny Hill Care Center in Tama under the care of Iowa River Hospice. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 30, 2018, at 10 a.m. at the Vining Christian Fellowship Church with Pastor James
Perry officiating. Interment will follow at the Stayskal Cemetery in rural Vining. Visitation will be held Friday, June 29, 2018, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama.
Dennis was born on Sept. 9, 1938, in rural Elberon, Iowa, the son of George and Lillian (Zednichek) Zeman.
He went to grade school at York #7 and graduated from Toledo High School in 1956.
On Aug. 3, 1957, he was united in marriage to Barb Seidel at the United Brethren Church in Toledo. Dennis farmed his whole life in the Elberon and Vining areas. He also raised cattle, hogs and sheep. Dennis was a member of the Vining Christian Fellowship Church, CSA Hall in Vining and the Tama County Cattleman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and attending auctions, especially livestock. Dennis had a full collection of National Finals Rodeo belt buckles. He loved to go dancing and followed the Dave Dighton Band. He also loved the Iowa Hawkeyes. His greatest joy was his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Barb of Elberon; his children, Tod (Stacey) Zeman of Toledo and Kristi (Alan) Sienknecht of Clutier; eight grandchildren, Levi (Tiffany) Zeman, Madison Zeman, Joe, Luke and Haley Shope, Devin (Kyle) Mattingly, Bailey (Cody) Hamilton and Colin Sienknecht; two great-grandchildren, Mason and Lane Mattingly; three great-grandchildren on the way, baby Zeman, baby Mattingly and baby Hamilton; one brother, Roger Zeman of Elberon; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents; one sister, Shirley (Sidney) Sokol; and his father and mother-in-law, Emil and Gertrude Seidel.
A memorial fund will be established.
