Roling, Marjorie
Marjorie Roling, 84, of Peoria, Ariz., died Thursday, May 26, 2011, at Hospice of the Valley in Arizona, after a lengthy illness with congestive heart failure and Alzheimer's disease. Her body was cremated and her family will be coming to Oelwein later this summer to celebrate her life with family and friends. A notice will be posted when the date is set.
She was born March 26, 1927, at St. Paul, Minn., the daughter of Herman and Mercedes (MacDonald) Jacob. She graduated from Central High School in St. Paul in 1946. She married Dr. James Roling on July 12, 1947, at St. Paul. The couple moved to Oelwein in 1950, where she volunteered with the American Red Cross Local Chapter and various other volunteer jobs. She attended college at Upper Iowa University and graduated in 1977. She then became a probation officer in Oelwein. Marge moved to Peoria, Ariz., in 2004, to be near her daughter and son-in-law.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Colleen and David Brownworth of Peoria; one granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Angela and Casey Stopperan of Atlanta, Ga.; and one grandson, BJ Katz of Scottsdale, Ariz.
Also surviving are two sisters, Kathleen (Gene) Kemmerer of Cedar Rapids, and Jan Wallman of New York City; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on Nov. 17, 2001; one son, James L Roling Jr. on Sept. 12, 1997; one sister, Mercedes Swanson.
