Kness, Austin L.
Austin L. Kness, 21, of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, March 20, 2013, from injuries in an automobile accident. Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Assembly of God, where a visitation will be Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. and on Tuesday after 10 a.m. The Rev. Rick Gail will officiate. Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his parents, James L. Kness of Cedar Rapids and Laree C. Minor of Cedar Rapids; three brothers, Alexander F. Minor, James C. Kness and Brad A. Kness, all of Cedar Rapids; and his grandparents, Merle F. and Veronica K. Minor of Cedar Rapids. Also surviving are many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Floyd and Eleanor Kness; a uncle, Dick Kness; and his best friend, Bently York.
Austin was born Sept. 1, 1991, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of James L. Kness and Laree C. Minor. He was employed by HACAP in Cedar Rapids and loved his job very much. Austin loved to help people and loved children. He hated school but loved learning and he did so everyday. Austin loved bike riding and one day dreamed of owning and operating a bike store.
He was a friend to all and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
The last gift Austin gave was the donation of his organs so that others would live.
