Money cannot buy happiness

To the editor:
Many people think money makes them happy. But does it?
People are too reliant on money for happiness these days when in reality it can't buy you happiness. You have to find happiness from yourself and others around you.
With Christmas approaching, everybody is buying gifts. What would happen if, instead of buying one or two of those gifts for a family member, you went out to volunteer time or donate that money to an orphanage for kids who don't have family members to buy them Christmas gifts?
Researchers have studied whether you can have happiness from money. They gave two groups of people money, one group spent the money on themselves and the other gave donations. The results were that the people who donated the money felt more satisfied and happier than the ones who spent it on themselves. You are always able to donate to clinics or organizations any holiday.
I encourage you, visit an orphanage or the humane society, for you may be able to save a life. You can sit down at a dinner table with a hundred dollar bill, but you won't be able to get the love and appreciation from it that you get from others in your life.
