David Boeding, 53, died Sunday. Nov. 18, 2012, at the Jones Regional Medical Center following a sudden illness. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Luke's Catholic Church, Hopkinton, where a parish vigil service will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday. Visitation will start immediately following the vigil service, until 8 p.m. The Rev. Father John Kremer will officiate at the services. Goettsch Funeral Home, Hopkinton, is in charge of the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.

Surviving is his wife, Patricia; two daughters, Kayla Boeding and her fiance, Jonathon Tegeler and Katie Boeding; a stepson, Mike (Susan) Freeze; and his parents, Francis and Lois Boeding. all of Hopkinton; 10 brothers and sisters; eight brothers and sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.

David Joseph Boeding was born Oct. 7, 1959, at the John McDonald Hospital in Monticello, Iowa. He was the son of Francis and Lois Kirby Boeding. He graduated from the Maquoketa Valley Schools in 1978, David then enlisted in the United States Army serving in the 109 Air Borne Division. David married Patricia Hargrafen on Oct. 26, 1990 at the Little Brown Church, Nashua.

He has been employed at Exide Battery, the City of Hopkinton and Murray Grain. He also worked as a long haul trucker and has been a truck driver for Welter Storage in Monticello for the past six years.

David enjoyed being outdoors, splitting wood, camping, fishing and canoeing. He especially enjoyed being with his family and taking his girls to gymnastics meets and cooking for the 4H breakfast.
