A train struck a sprayer and sent it tumbling into a ditch Wednesday near Alburnett, but no injuries were reported.
The accident happened around 8:45 a.m. at the crossing on Old Quaas Road, just west of Alburnett Road south of the city limits. A young man was headed east in the John Deere sprayer when it was stuck by a southbound train, authorities said.
Firefighters said a small amount of diesel fuel leaked out of the sprayer, but the rig had just left a business near the tracks and was not loaded with any chemicals.
Firefighters at the scene said the driver of the sprayer said it was loud and he did not hear or see the train. There are no crossing arms or horns at the crossing.
