No. 2 Iowa travels to Purdue, closes home schedule with Michigan

Feb. 9, 2011 3:01 pm
The University of Iowa wrestling team has another big weekend ahead, wrestling No. 23 Purdue Friday at Penn High School in Mishawaka, Ind., and then No. 10 Michigan in its last home dual of the year.
The Hawkeyes' unbeaten streak has increased to 74 straight duals, posting a 12-0-1 overall record and 5-0 Big Ten mark. The Boilermakers are 6-7-1 and 1-4 in the conference. Michigan is 10-3 and 5-1.
Senior Luke Lofthouse, who beat Indiana's fifth-ranked Matt Powless, 10-5, last Friday, has a tough test. He will likely face Purdue's Logan Brown and Michigan's Anthony Biondo. Ethen Lofthouse is expected to return and has a top-10 foe at 174 in Purdue's Luke Manuel. Grant Gambrall should wrestle the Boilermakers' eighth-ranked A.J. Kissel.
Whether it be Montell Marion or Mark Ballweg Sunday, Iowa's 141-pounder will get a crack at top-ranked Kellen Russell of Michigan. Marion already has a win over previously fifth-ranked Andrew Alton of Penn State.
The Hawkeyes will be saying goodbye to five seniors Sunday. Matt Ballweg, Aaron Janssen, Jake Kerr, Brooks Kopsa and Luke Lofthouse.
