Hallman, Curtis Anthony
Curtis Anthony Hallman, 48, of Burlington, passed away after a long battle with Von Hippel-Lindau disease at his parents' home Saturday evening, June 9, 2012.
Born Jan. 17, 1964, in Burlington, Iowa, he was the son of William Lee Hallman and M. Diane Wilson Mansheim. He married Jacklyn Friedman on Oct. 10, 1987, at SS Mary & Patrick Catholic Church in West Burlington. They later divorced. Curtis was a graduate of Notre Dame High School Class of 1982 and Western Illinois University, majoring in industrial technology. He worked as a roof consultant for Benchmark Incorporated.
His pride and joy was his daughter, Alyssa.
He loved hunting, singing, golfing, horror movies, his dog, Max and sports, especially the Iowa Hawkeyes, Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears. He was a member of SS Mary & Patrick Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Ducks Unlimited and was a Cantor and choir member of the SS. Mary & Patrick Catholic Church Choir.
He is survived by one daughter, Alyssa Hallman of Hiawatha, Iowa; his lifelong friend, Jacklyn Hallman of Hiawatha; his parents, Diane and Robert Mansheim of Burlington; four sisters, Heidi Hallman Carlson and friend Tim Brown of Burlington, Johannah Hallman (Charles) Burm of Burlington, Amanda (Rodney) Brent of Gladstone, Ill., and Julie Mansheim Cook of Omaha, Neb.; four brothers, Matthew Hallman of Burlington, Rob (Kim) Mansheim of Fort Madison, Iowa, Joe Mansheim of Fort Madison and Ed (Amanda) Mansheim of Tulsa, Okla.; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents.
The Funeral Mass for Curtis Hallman will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 12, at SS Mary & Patrick Catholic Church, West Burlington. Concelebrants will be Father David Steinle, the Very Rev. Anthony J. Herold, Father Bruce DeRammelaere and Father Neil Manternach. Special music will be provided by the Des Moines County Resurrection Choir and Curt's family. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Burlington, at a later date. There will be a Divine Mercy Chaplet at 3 p.m. Monday at SS Mary & Patrick Catholic Church, West Burlington, followed by a rosary recital at 5 p.m., and then the family will receive friends from 5:30 until 8 p.m.
Memorials have been established for VHL Family Alliance, Burlington Area Catholic Churches, Notre Dame Foundation and St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Hiawatha.
