Prusha, Leona Frances
Leona Frances Prusha, 90, died Tuesday, May 11, 2010, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha following a short illness. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Michael's Catholic Church by Deacon Joe Behounek. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Hrabak Funeral Home in Belle Plaine, with a Scripture service at 6:30 p.m.
She is survived by a son, Roger (Janet) Prusha of Belle Plaine; daughters, Jeanette (Wayne) Jensen of Guttenberg and Joanie (Wayne) Cassady of Cedar Rapids; sisters, Esther Thys of Belle Plaine and Marie Rusch of Englewood, Colo.; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; four stepgreat-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Leona was born May 29, 1919, in rural Hartwick, to Charles and Emma Polka Iezek. She attended and graduated from Hartwick High School in 1937. She was united in marriage to Sylvester Prusha on Nov. 22, 1937, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Chelsea.
Leona was a farm housewife, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved to cook and her family all enjoyed her delicious food.
She will be greatly missed by all.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Sylvester; and sisters, Ella Zradnachek and Lottie Hall.
The family wishes to thank all the caring people at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids and at Hospice of Mercy in Hiawatha for the kindness you have shown her and the family during her past illness.
