Bathurst, Margaret Ellen

Margaret Ellen Bathurst, 81, of Cedar Rapids, died at her home following a long illness Friday, Sept. 6, 2013. A celebration of life will be held at a later date at her home. Arrangements by Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.

Survivors include her children, David (Bev) of Newhall, Lowell (Starla) of California, Carol (Dominic) of Arkansas, Connie (Chuck) of Louisiana, Martin (Gloria) of Cedar Rapids, Wayne (Tammy) of Arkansas and Steve (Sandy) of Algona; two sisters, Lila Barkland and Linda Potter, both of Sioux City; 37 grandchildren; 89 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her three husbands, Lowell Myers, Corellus Spykstra and Merle Bathurst; son, Robert Joe; daughter, Sharon Kay; sister, Betty Scott; and brother, Harold “Corkie” Cook.

Margaret was born May 15, 1932, in Woodbine, Iowa, daughter of Lucculus and Violet (Ferris) Cook. Margaret worked as a driver for the blind. She enjoyed spending time with her family, drawing and crafts.
