MARY KATHLEEN ALBRIGHT
Pembroke Pines, Fla.
Mary Kathleen Albright, 73, passed away on Oct, 19, 2015, at her home in Pembroke Pines, Fla. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 25, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. Mary McConnell was born on Feb. 28, 1942, to Forrest and Roseva (White) McConnell in Alden, Iowa. She was educated at Gladbrook High School, graduating with the class of 1960. In 1961, Marvin D. Hammer and Mary McConnell were united in marriage in Marshalltown, Iowa. Marvin later passed. In 2003, Mary was married in Guttenberg, Iowa, to James L. Albright. After her retirement in 2010, she and James moved to Pembroke Pines, Fla.
Mary was a member of Oak Grove Christian Church for many years. She loved basketball, and followed the Iowa Hawkeyes as well as the Los Angeles Lakers. Mary also was a volunteer at her church and for the East Central Iowa Brain Injury program; she always loved helping people in need. In 2005, Mary was inducted into the Iowa Girls Basketball Hall of Fame in Des Moines, Iowa.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, James Albright; her son, Jeffrey Hammer and Jennifer Hammer; grandchildren, Joshua, Chris, Manuel and Ellen; and a great-grandchild, Aden.
In death, she rejoins her parents, Forrest and Roseva McConnell; brothers, Jerry Ayers of Reno, Nev., and Larry McConnell of Marshalltown, Iowa; and her first husband, Marvin Hammer.
