Mary K. Chaffee, 80, of Marion, passed away on Friday, Feb. 16, 2018, at the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 23, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion. Funeral service: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, at First Presbyterian Church, Marion. Burial: Oak Shade Cemetery, Marion.
Mary was born Nov. 29, 1937, in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of Byron and Kathleen (Ward) Faulkner. Mary married Jerry Chaffee on April 20, 1957, in Fremont, Neb. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Marion and O.O.P. Group. Mary worked for Robert Verhille and Associates in Marion. She retired in 1990.
Mary is survived by her husband, Jerry; sons, Christopher (Ian) Tucker and Theron (Laura) Chaffee; daughters, Sue (Dan) Hartung, Kathy (Jon) Bogert and Jennifer (Audie) Penn; grandchildren, Andrew (Jamie), Katie and Mary Hartung, Ryan, Tommy and Emily Chaffee, Jensen, Kevin, Melanie and Logan Bogert, and Mallory, Alexa and Alec Penn; great-granddaughter, Aurora Westfall-Chaffee; sister, Patricia McPherson; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
