Ryan, Mary L.
Mary L. Ryan, 84, of Marion, formerly of Manchester, died Monday, Aug. 10, 2009, at home following a lingering illness. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Mary Catholic Church in Manchester by the Rev. Greg Bahl. Family will greet friends from 3 until 8 p.m. today at Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Manchester, where there will be a 7 p.m. Scripture service. Additional visitation will be one hour before services Friday at the church. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Manchester.
Mary was born Aug. 24, 1924, in Manchester, the daughter of John F. and Helen G. (Connolly) Wilson. She attended school at Xavier and graduated from Manchester High School in 1942. In 1942, Mary began working as a dental assistant for Dr. Earl H. Campbell in Manchester. She was united in marriage on Sept. 1, 1956, to Louis A. Ryan at St. Mary Catholic Church. While Louis was in college, Mary worked in the Iowa State Alumni Association office and was a homemaker.
Mary was a past member of the St. Mary Altar and Rosary Society. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and going to rodeos.
Mary will be remembered as a gentle person and a friend to the neighborhood children.
Mary is survived by her husband, Louis A. Ryan of Marion; and two sisters-in-law, Bernita Wilson of Manchester and Delores Wilson of Cedar Rapids.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, John and Helen Wilson; and twin brothers, Howard and Harold Wilson.
