A ticket sold in the central Iowa community of Colfax won a $1 million Powerball prize in Saturday's drawing, lottery officials said Sunday.
The ticket was purchased at the Kum & Go convenience store at 1200 N. Walnut St. in Colfax. The ticket matched the first five numbers in Saturday's Powerball drawing, but missed the Powerball.
No one matched all six numbers to win the Powerball jackpot, which climbs to an estimated $440 million for Wednesday night's drawing.
The Colfax ticket was one of only three across the country that won a $1 million prize Saturday night, with the others sold in New Hampshire and New Jersey. Kum & Go will receive a $1,000 bonus from the lottery for selling the $1 million-winning ticket at one of its stores.
Five Iowa Lottery players have now claimed prizes of at least $1 million in calendar year 2017, all of them in the Powerball game.
The Mega Millions lottery jackpot also went unclaimed in the last drawing Friday night, pushing that game's prize to an estimated $343 million for Tuesday night's drawing.
Powerball entry forms on the customer service counter at the Johnson Avenue Hy-Vee in Cedar Rapids. (Jim Slosiarek/The Gazette)
