Mingst, Roland
Roland Mingst, 85, of Clarence, died Thursday, Dec. 10, 2009, in his home after a long battle with health issues. Services: 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Clarence United Methodist Church. Burial: Clarence Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Chapman Funeral Home, Clarence.
Survivors include the love of his life, Millie; two sons, Bill (Chris) of San Diego, Calif., and Bob (Linda) of Clarence; five grandchildren, Jessica (Greg) Krahn of Wisconsin, Erica (Jeff) Imholz of Ohio, B.J. Mingst of Des Moines, Amanda (Andrew) Walford of San Diego, Calif., and Kate (Mark) Drovdahl of Seattle; four great-grandchildren, Kaylee Krahn, Emelia and Joscelyn Imholz and Isaiah Drovdahl; two sisters, Dorothy Pingel and Kathryn (Doc) Utley; a sister-in-law, Dorothy (Stan) Williams; and many nieces and nephews.
Roland was born Nov. 8, 1924, in Clarence, Iowa, to Bill and Edna Boettcher Mingst. He married Mildred Horn on Jan 28, 1945. Roland had farmed and upon retirement stayed on the farm. Roland loved everyone and showed that in his daily living. He wanted to be there always for his family and friends. His church was important to him and he served wherever he was needed, he had held many offices. Roland served many years on the Clarence Nursing Home Board with his aim to keep a good nursing home in the community.
He will be missed big time by his family but they have been blessed to have him many years.
