Weber, Shirley Ann
Shirley Ann Weber, 79, of Dyersville, formerly of Delhi, died Friday, Jan. 3, 2014, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Friends may call from 2 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7, at Kramer Funeral Home, 750 12th Ave. SW, in Dyersville. Private family services will take place.
Shirley was born July 8, 1934, in Dyersville, the daughter of Albert and Marie (Lukan) Digmann. She married Robert L. Weber on May 26, 1952, in Dyersville. Bob and Shirley owned and operated the Delhi Tap from 1964-1971. After that, they moved their family to a farm near Earlville until the late 1990s, when they retired in Delhi.
While in Earlville, Shirley provided day care to several families in the area. Bob preceded her in death in 2008 and Shirley moved to the Ellen Kennedy Living Center in Dyersville.
Shirley was an avid card player who loved to do puzzles, go fishing and gambling and spend time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include eight children, Larry (Mary) Weber of Marshalltown, Jerry (Cindy) Weber of Hopkinton, Patty (Mark) Rodenkirk of Cedar Rapids, Dan (Pam) Weber of Manchester, Kathy (Jim) Stelken of Delaware, Dave (Cindy) Weber of Ankeny, Karen (Steve Fairbanks) Weber of Cedar Rapids and Kay (Kerry) Sternhagen of Delhi, 17 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by three brothers, Ronald (Joyce) Digmann of Dyersville, Albert (Karen) Digmann of Branson, Mo., and Roger (Nancy) Digmann of Monticello; three sisters, Carolyn ‘Cookie' (Gilbert) Fangman of Earlville, LaVonne (Jerry) Pearson of Martelle and Linda Mason of St. Petersburg, Fla.; brothers-in-law, Roland Broll of Cedar Falls and Charles (Cathy) Weber of Fayetteville, N.C.; and sisters-in-law, Helen Digmann of Waterloo and Evelyn Digmann of Gillespie, Ill.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Madonna (Urban) Pottebaum, Betty Broll and Mary Lou Wink; her brothers, Lloyd Digmann, Alvin Digmann, Donald Digmann and Gerald ‘Doc' Digmann; and a brother-in-law, Cletus F. Weber.
Memorials are preferred to the Maquoketa Valley Dollars for Scholars or Camp Courageous of Iowa.
Special thanks to the staff at Ellen Kennedy Living Center for making our mother feel at home these last few years. We would also like to thank the staff at Regional Medical Center in Manchester and the staff at the Intensive Care Unit, Third Floor Nurses and St. Luke's Hospice.
