Engelkemier, Lila
Lila Engelkemier, 92, died Thursday, March 11, 2010, at Mercy, Iowa City. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Crossroads Bible Church, Manely, Neb. (Highway 1/50 Interchange).
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Lila's memory to support missionary work.

Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service of Iowa City and the Fusselman-Wymore Funeral Home of Louisville, Neb., are caring for Lila's family and her services.
Lila was born March 1, 1918, and raised in Coleridge, Neb., where she graduated from Coleridge High School. She received a Regents Scholarship to attend the University of Nebraska where she graduated with a Home Economics Food and Nutrition Degree in 1941 On Dec. 31, 1939, she married Forrest Engelkemier, they raised six children on their farm near Louisville, Neb. Lila was actively involved in church activities and a 4-H Leader for many years. Her family and friends enjoyed receiving all the afghans and other textile items she made for them.
Lila is survived by two brothers, Vernon of Seward, Neb., and Roland of Los Altos Hills, Calif.; six children, Robert of Salix, Wilbert of Louisville, Neb., Gene (Jo Ann) of Huntsville, Ala., James (Joan) of Louisville, Neb., Rex (Marge) of Cedar Rapids, and Theresa (Larry Greiner) of Iowa City; 16 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and four brothers.
Lila found great comfort in her strong personal relationship with Jesus Christ and rejoiced in the knowledge that she would be with Him and Forrest following her death.
