Bryan James Gunderson, 69, of Tustin, Calif., went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, May 17, 2017, at Knott Avenue Care Center, Buena Park, Calif.
Bryan was born in Postville, Iowa, to James and Irma (Thompson) Gunderson on Nov. 11, 1947. He married Barbara Ann Green on June 21, 1971, in Memphis, Tenn. He went to school in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, graduating from Washington High School. He was an audio technician in aviation for Rockwell Collins for about 10 years. A Vietnam War veteran, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps for 26 years.
He was a spiritual man and involved in many church activities, including Sunday school teacher and usher. He enjoyed going on family road trips, to the movies with his grandchildren and flying airplanes.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Barbara Ann Gunderson; his daughters, Lisa Gunderson (Joshua Erwin), Kimberly Gunderson, and Sarah Gunderson-Lawson (Grant Lawson); his grandchildren, Brendan Olveda, Brittany Olveda, Drake Olveda, Arabella Duran, Madisyn Lawson and Parker Lawson; great-grandchild, Kash Olveda-Avila; his sisters, Gwendolyn Smith and Deanna Fox; and his brother, Kermit Gunderson.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Mark Gunderson.
Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. June 3 at Red Hill Lutheran Church, 13200 Red Hill Ave., Tustin, Calif. 92780.
Instead of flowers, the family requests all donations be made to the American Cancer Society, National Veterans Service Fund or Red Hill Lutheran Church and School.
