Story, Doris A.
Doris A. Story, 76, of St. Louis, Mo., formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, Jan. 27, 2012, at Mid America Transplant Services in St. Louis after a short illness. Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, where friends may call after 10 a.m. Tuesday. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include her husband, Rex; three daughters, Debra Hovis of Stillwater, Okla., Jo Cavel of Omaha, Neb., and Susan Henke of St. Peters, Mo.; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister.
Doris was born June 20, 1935, in Estherville, the daughter of Henry and Bertha (Harford) Porter. She married Rex B.H. Story Jr. on May 31, 1953, in Marion. Doris was an auditor at St. John's Bank for many years, retiring in 1994.
She and Rex were both members of the American Philatelic Society and the American and St. Louis Numismatic Association. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, and especially time spent with her beloved family and many friends.
