Gary was born June 17, 1942, the son of Doyle and Katherine (Gleason) Fisher, in Edgewood. He graduated from Edgewood Consolidated School and Wartburg College. During his time in school, he farmed with his mother. Gary was united into marriage to Myrna Jean Lee on June 10, 1966, at Emanuel United Methodist Church.
Gary's long business career consisted of Wilson Meat Packing Co. as assistant office manager, Iowa National Mutual Insurance as vice president and controller and owner of Gary E. Fisher Co. PC for 22 years. Most recently, he merged his company with Hogan-Hansen.
Gary believed in the nature of relationships whether it be family, friends or business associates. He made sure everyone was taken care of. Gary was a member of St. Paul's Methodist Church, Lions Club, Accounting Association of Iowa and American Management Society as past president and board member. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan and enjoyed boating on the Mississippi. Gary and his family spent a lot of their time traveling in their motorhome throughout the United States. More than anything, he loved spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren.
