BILLIE BARBARA SAWYER
Cedar Rapids
Billie Barbara Sawyer, 90, passed into the loving care of her Lord, Thursday, Nov. 12, 2015, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids.
Billie Barbara was born March 10, 1925, in Union County, Iowa, and graduated from Lorimer High School. In 1949, she married Dale Sawyer in Creston, and together they had two children, Steven and Debra.
Billie Barbara was known for her contagious laugh and her ability to find the positive in everything. That optimistic outlook allowed her to overcome the challenges she faced throughout her life. These attributes and the appreciation for life were passed along to her greatest joy, her family.
Today, her children and grandchildren are grateful for the creativity she brought to their lives and love of arts and music that she instilled in their hearts. Her life was filled with joyful times with family and friends.
She will always be remembered for her competitive bridge game and excellent skill in the kitchen.
She will be greatly missed.
Billie Barbara is survived by her husband, Dale; son, Steven (Diane) Sawyer, and their children, Kaitlin (Brad) Rogstad and Alexandra Sawyer; daughter, Debra (Dean) Frick, and their children, Benjamin (Kathryn) Frick and Jennifer Frick; and great-grandchild, Dexter Frick.
Billie Barbara was predeceased by her parents, Willard and Lena Moffitt; sisters, Geraldine (Joseph) Besso and Jean (Glenn) Allen; and brother, Marvin (Florence) Moffitt.
A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 16, at First Lutheran Church. Pastor Steven Knudson will officiate. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
