Gregory A. Lien, 56, passed away Jan. 6, 2017, of heart failure.

He was born to DelHart and Joyce Lien on Nov. 15, 1960, in Litchfield, Minn. During high school, Greg was a football player and a decorated swimmer, graduating from Jefferson High School in 1979. After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he served on the USS Virginia, a nuclear-powered guided missile cruiser from 1981 to 1984, including time in Beirut, Lebanon. His Navy commendations include the Navy Expeditionary Medal, Navy Unit Commendation Award and Sea Service Deployment Ribbon with Bronze Star. After serving his country, he proudly became an IBEW journeyman electrician out of his hometown, Local 405, traveling the country "Building America." Greg enjoyed the outdoors and had a fond love of the Pacific Northwest.

Greg is survived by his daughter, Kiley (Justin) of Swisher; and his three grandbabies, Lincoln, Huxton and Maevyn; and younger brothers, Michael Lien and Chris (Jen, Jackson and Lily) Lien.

Greg came to know and value countless friends he met during his many travels. His loyal, generous and energetic spirit is undeniably remembered by all those he encountered.
