Janss, Alice K.
Alice K. Janss, 87, of Belle Plaine, formerly of La Porte City, died Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2011, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids of natural causes. Memorial services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, at the American Lutheran Church, with inurnment in West View Cemetery, both in La Porte City. Family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church.
She was born March 30, 1924, on a farm near La Porte City, the daughter of Jurgen and Theresa Jebe. She graduated from Dysart High School in 1942. She married Henry Fleisher on Sept. 26, 1948; he preceded her in death. She married Donald Janss on Aug. 26, 2006, in La Porte City.
She had spent most of her life farming and also worked for the hatchery in Dysart and Hicks Plumbing. She had been a member of the LPC Garden Club, Neighborhood Community Club and also enjoyed quilting.
Survivors include her husband, Donald Janss of Belle Plaine; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Henry; one sister in infancy; and two brothers, Wesley and Emil Jebe.
Memorials may be directed to the LPC FFA Ag Museum.
