Donald Wayne Janss, 91, of Belle Plaine, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2016. at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids.
Memorial service is at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, at Hrabak-Neuhaus Funeral Service in Belle Plaine, with Pastor Charles Johnson officiating. Burial will take place in Westview Cemetery, La Porte City, with military honors. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Keystone Senior Suites or St. Luke's Hospice.

Donald was born Jan. 11, 1925, to Henry and Elizabeth (Severin) Janss at the family farm in Belle Plaine. After graduating from Belle Plaine High School, Donald joined the Army from 1950 to 1952. Donald married Gladys Meadows in the early 1950s. They were married for 50-plus years. Following her passing, Donald was reunited with a high school friend, Alice Zeebe. The couple were married in 2006.
Don worked for the post office for 23 years and sold feed for Standard Feeds for 20 years.
Along with being an avid storyteller, Don enjoyed country music, gardening, remodeling houses and puzzles. He was member of the American Legion.
Don is survived by his nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wives; sisters, Dorothy and Ruth; and brothers, Wilbert, Melvin and Robert.
