Carol J. Upah was born Dec. 17, 1932, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Alvin and Stella (Vanourney) Melsha. She passed away Thursday, July 2, 2015, at age 82 in Des Moines.
Services will be at Blairstown Presbyterian Church, 109 Prospect St. NE, Blairstown, IA 52209. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m., with funeral service to begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 8. Carol will be laid to rest beside her husband, Bernard, at National Cemetery in Vining.
Carol was a homemaker and a farmer's wife. She was a member of the Blairstown Presbyterian Church and enjoyed spending time at her senior center, where she met some wonderful friends. She would go almost daily and loved playing Dominoes. She was very talented at crocheting and invested many hours making name doilies for family and friends.
She is survived by her son, Kevin Upah and his wife, Mona, of Des Moines; son, David Scott and his wife, Kannie, of Belle Plaine; and son, Randy Upah and his wife, Kimmie, of Belle Plaine. She also is survived by eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren and four stepgreat-grandchildren.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 63 years, Bernard Upah; and her brother, Marvin Melsha.
