GARTH WIEBOLD
Blairstown
Garth James Wiebold, 69, passed from this earth at his home to the loving arms of his Savior on Jan. 24, 2015. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 30, at Grace Lutheran Church in Blairstown with the Rev. David Rempfer officiating. Committal services will be held at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Blairstown with military rites conducted by M.J. Kirby American Legion Post No. 170. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the church.
A memorial fund has been established.
Garth, the son of Gordon and Lillian (Heitshusen) Wiebold, was born on June 16, 1945, in Marengo. He was baptized and confirmed and was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Blairstown. Garth attended and then graduated in 1963 from Blairstown Consolidated Schools. Shortly after graduation, he moved to California and began a career in landscaping and irrigation.
In the early 1990s, Garth returned to his hometown of Blairstown and enjoyed fishing with his dad, hunting, reading Western novels and traveling the "backroads" of Iowa and surrounding states.
Survivors include loving aunts, LaVonne Wilhelmi, Pat Wiebold, Gloria Stenzil, Genevieve Schumacher and Helen Heitshusen; and many cousins and friends.
Garth was preceded in death by his loving parents.
