Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28, at the Chapel of Memories at Cedar Memorial Park. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Survivors include two sons, Michael L. Koon and wife Stacey of Kansas City, Mo., and Timothy A. Koon and wife Caroline of Williamsburg; two daughters, Elizabeth A. Jungjohann and husband Keith of Cedar Rapids and Jennifer Wolffe and husband Bruce Bock of Iowa City; a sister, Priscilla Peyton of Troy Mills; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Walter L. Koon.
Pat was born Nov. 17, 1933, in Greeley, Iowa, to Robert and Arlene Johnston. She married Walter on March 28, 1953, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. For many years she worked as a mother and homemaker, then earned an associate degree and began a second career as a librarian, working for 20 years at the Cedar Rapids Public Library, where fellow library staff members awarded her with the Library's Employee Recognition Award. Pat was cited for her work with the public, in the library's book mending operations, CPR instruction and the library's social committee. She also enjoyed competitive Scrabble, creative sewing and making elaborate birthday cakes for friends and family.
Pat's family wishes to thank the exceptional nurses and staff at Meth-Wick and, instead of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Meth-Wick Endowment Fund.
