JANELL ROWE ACKERMAN

Janell Rowe Ackerman, 67, of Center Point, passed away Saturday, July 16, 2016, at UnityPoint Health-St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids, after an eight-year battle with multiple myeloma. Friends may gather with the family to celebrate Janell from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Teahen Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids.
Janell was born Aug. 28, 1948, in Troy Mills, the daughter of Robert and Lela Rowe Mayes. She graduated from Washington High School in 1966 and married Terry Ackerman on Sept. 15, 1972, in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.
Survivors include her husband of 44 years, Terry; daughter, Sarah (Gene) Harper of Marion; three sons, Rod (Laurie) and Michael (Debbie), both of Cedar Rapids, and William of Virginia Beach, Va.; sister, Becky (Phil) High of Marion; and her beloved nine grandchildren, Ryan, Draven, Kiefer, Madison, Tryton, Caden, Jordan, Henry and Colin.
Janell was preceded in death by her parents and father-in-law, Harry Ackerman.
Janell enjoyed the outdoors, spending time watching birds and growing flowers, and always looked forward to sharing a cup of coffee with friends. Her favorite times were at her home when she was surrounded by her grandchildren and family.
Janell's family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Physicians' Clinic of Iowa Oncology Department for all the care she received while receiving treatment over the past eight years, and the nurses and staff of the fifth floor and hospice care at St. Luke's Hospital for all the care they provided over her final three weeks.
Instead of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
