Lois Arlene Shields, 86, formerly of Fairfield, passed away in her home surrounded by family and friends in Arlington, Texas, on Saturday, Dec. 13, 2014. Her body has been cremated. Memorial services will be held at a later date.
Memorials can be made to First United Methodist Church of Fairfield.
Lois was born Jan. 6, 1928, in Cedar Falls, Iowa, to Ray Lansman and Beryl Lynn Lansman. On Aug. 2, 1944, at the age of 16, Lois married the love of her life, Everett Shields. They lived all their 65 years of married life in the Fairfield area.
Lois owned and operated Helen's Fashions until her retirement in 1988. She was active in the Fairfield committee. She was a member of the First Methodist Church where she sang in the choir for many years. Lois was also a member of the Fairfield Women's Club, BPW and the Chamber of Commerce. She was an avid gardener and loved to play bridge and bingo. Her most prized possession was the love she had for her five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her son, Ron Shields and wife Deb of Cedar Rapids; her daughter, Connie Cannoles and husband Gordon of Arlington, Texas; five grandchildren, Ali Autry, Jenny Littlefield, Jill Willingham, Aaron Shields and Brian Shields; five great-grandchildren who she adored, Cooper and Kylie Littlefield, Elyn and Ryder Autry and Lucy Willingham; and her nieces, Barb Hendrickson and Roger Elliott, both of Fairfield, and Diane Sullivan of New Hampshire.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Everett Shields; and her brother, Lynn Lansman.
