Merwin is survived by his wife of 66 years, Myrtle of Cedar Rapids; son, Lyle (Vicki) of Jewell; daughter, Linda (Doug) Wilson of Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren, Don (Sherry) Smith, Tracey (Patrick Shelton) Wilson, Stephenie (K.C.) Tupa and Tim (Anna) Wilson; eight great-grandchildren, Maysa, Makhi, Madden, Mallie Wilson, Kole, Kanon, Easton and Addyson Tupa; and brother-in-law, Floyd Ondler.
Merwin was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Henry and Beryl Smith; and sister, Hazel Eagan.
Merwin enjoyed playing cards, wood working and winters spent camping down south in Texas, Arizona and Florida. Merwin was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather and set a good example of a hard worker.
