Perry Sr., Charles A.
Charles A. Perry Sr., 69, of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, Aug. 28, 2009, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids following a short illness. The family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 31, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion. Private family services will be held at a later date.
Survivors include his wife, Laurie of Cedar Rapids; his children, Chuck (Lisa) Perry of Cedar Rapids, Tammy (Brad) Neumann of Swisher, Jeff (Deanna Wintermote) Perry of Wayland, Iowa, Joe Perry of Iowa City, Brad Perry of Vinton, Christine Noles and fiance Clint Cooper of Montrose, Colo., and Linda Perry of Brandon; 17 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Mamye English of Anamosa; and his beloved dogs and cats.
He was preceded in death by his father, Carl Perry; and his mother and stepfather, Beryl and Cliff Phelps.
Charles was born June 19, 1940, the son of Carl and Beryl (Baily) Perry in Cedar Rapids. On Feb. 14, 1981, he married Laurie Hoge in Cedar Rapids. Chuck was employed by the City of Cedar Rapids for over 35 years before retiring in 1999.
Chuck was an avid gardener and loved his dogs and cats. He especially enjoyed photography and movies. Chuck was a friend of Bill W.
A memorial fund has been established in memory of Chuck.
