Rickie Dee Scofield, 62, of The Villages, Fla., formerly of Marion, died Monday, Oct. 10, 2016, at the Cornerstone Hospice House in The Villages. A Celebration of
Life will be Saturday, Oct. 22, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home,
with graveside to follow at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Rick was born July 9, 1954, the son of LaMarr and Berniece (Zimmerman) Scofield. On May 29, 1976, he was married to Amy Ann Pearson. Rick worked as a firefighter for the Cedar Rapids Fire Department from 1980 to 2010, reaching the rank of captain. Rick dedicated his life to union work. He was president of Cedar Rapids IAFF local for 23 years until his retirement, at which time he received emeritus status. Rick also served in many roles at the state level, including six years as president of the Iowa Professional Firefighters. Because of his leadership and dedicated service to firefighters across Iowa, he was immediately awarded emeritus status. For 24 years he led the firefighters' "Fill The Boot" Drive for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
Survivors include his wife, Amy Scofield; three children, Tracey (Troy) Eickstaedt, Amber (Donovan) Howell and Shane (Ashley) Scofield; six grandchildren, Haley and Dominique Eickstaedt, Dalton Scofield, Connor and Rylie Scofield, and Ramsey Howell; and three siblings, Larry Scofield, Nancy (Richard) Daywitt and Dennis (Roxanne) Scofield.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Janet Scofield; and many other loved ones.
