Sandra Yanda

SANDRA A. YANDA Cedar Rapids Sandra A. Yanda, 65, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Jan. 11, 2016, after an extensive bout with cancer. Sandy's last day was filled with happiness, visiting with her daughters and family. Survivors include daughters, Lisa (Bill) Zahina of Bristol, Conn., Theresa (Sean) Daly of East Greenwich, R.I., and Stacy Yanda of Ankeny; four grandchildren, Erika and Christopher Zahina and McKenna and Quinlan Daly; brother, Donald Dalke of Florida; sister, Donna Dalton of Arizona; brother, Lenny Dalke of Connecticut; and several nieces and nephews. Sandy was born April 4, 1950, in New Britain, Conn. For most of her life she was a homemaker and daycare provider. She also worked as a waitress and cocktail server at various locations throughout her life. She enjoyed cooking and collecting owls and other various figures. Sandy had a strong affection for animals and was a caretaker to many cats who filled her life with joy. Sandy was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Graziella "Blanche" Dalke; and special friend, James Robert "Bob" Myers. Sandy requested no funeral service be held and her family chose to honor her wishes. Due to her affection for cats and other animals, the family requests memorial donations be sent to the Cedar Valley Humane Society or Last Hope Animal Rescue.
