Flohra, Ruby G.
Ruby G. Flohra, 97, of Ames, died Wednesday, June 15, 2011, at Rolling Green Village in Nevada, Iowa. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 22, at Adams Funeral Home in Ames, with a visitation from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in Burge Cemetery, New London, Iowa.
Ruby was born Aug. 17, 1913, to Frank and Estella (Sink) Purviance, in Union County, Iowa. She graduated from Cromwell High School in 1929 at the age of 16. She married Dalton Flohra on July 4, 1934, in Creston. Ruby enjoyed reading and spending time with her family.
Ruby is survived by two daughters, Marlene (Bob) Erickson of Ames and Charlotte Magee of Raleigh, N.C.; six grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Lola Wittke; son-in-law, Rudolph Wittke; grandson, Dannon Fordice; three brothers, Fred, Dale and Glenn; and three sisters, Mary McFee, Lucile Veatch and Thelma Miller.
