Papenthien, Ruth M. (Kane)
Ruth M. (Kane) Papenthien, 86, of Dubuque, died Sunday, Aug. 19, 2012, at Luther Manor, Dubuque. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Dubuque. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery, Dubuque. Visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 2659 Kennedy Rd., Dubuque, and from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
Surviving are her husband, Robert Papenthien of Dubuque; seven children, James E. (Debra) Kane III of Dubuque, Jeffrey M. (Amy) Kane of Walford, Michael R. (Carol) Papenthien of Waterloo, Karen (John) Leo of Panora, Robert W. (Angie) Papenthien of Dubuque, Tom (Cathy) Papenthien of Ixonia, Wis., and Barb Spurling of Austin, Minn. Included in the 21 surviving grandchildren are Mallory and Andrew Kane, Ashley Hyberger and Rylie and Dalton Kane. She is also survived by several great-grandchildren; and one brother, Aaron Kupferschmidt of Dubuque.
She was preceded in death by seven siblings.
A Ruth Papenthien Memorial Fund has been established.
