Thomas R. Simonsen, 71, of Martelle, died Thursday, Dec. 25, 2014, at his home. Visitation will be Monday, Dec. 29, from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Thomas Ray Simonsen was born Jan. 14, 1942, in Cedar Rapids, to Ingeman and Doris Coker Simonsen. He enjoyed John Deere collectibles, stock car racing, collecting toys and going to classic toy shows.
He is survived by his children, Tim Simonsen of Lecompton, Kan., Brett (Tara) Simonsen of Fairfax, Lynn (Merlyn) Morris of Ely, Chris Simonsen of Cedar Rapids and Renee Martens of Leawood, Kan.; his sister, Lesa Simonsen of Oxford Junction; eight grandchildren, Christina, Brandon, Miranda, Dalton, Dakota, Nicole, Jessica and Nicholas; and three great-grandchildren, Taylor, Brayden and Garrett.
Thomas was preceded in death by his parents.
