Anderson, Catherine Elizabeth
Catherine Elizabeth Anderson, 96, of L'Anse, Mich., formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Nov. 9, 2010, in Baraga, Mich. Services were Nov. 13 at Sacred Heart Church in L'Anse. Burial: Baraga Cemetery.
Surviving are her daughters, Nancy (Elmer) Richardson of Arlington Heights, Ill., Joan (Bruce Kinsey) Anderson of Maurertown, Va., Mary (Don) Tanner of Nelson, British Columbia and Debra (David) Peddycoart of Cedar Rapids; son-in-law, Eric Tuttle of Falls Church, Va.; 13 grandchildren, Cynthia, Valerie, Craig, Geoff, Jord, Daren, Forrest, Catherine, Frederic, Ann-Marie, John, Andrew and Paul; 23 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, John Gunnar Anderson; daughter, Carol Tuttle; and eigh siblings.
Catherine was born Oct. 23, 1914, daughter to the late John and Vincenca (Crnkovich) Markovich. She grew up on a farm on the outskirts of L'Anse, later moving to Detroit. She married John Gunnar Anderson on May 8, 1937, in Lansing, Mich. They moved to Cedar Rapids, Iowa in 1956. Catherine moved back to L'Anse after her husband died in 1973. Catherine loved music, all kinds of literature and playing pinochle with friends and family.
