Nickerson, Ronald W.

Ronald W. Nickerson, 73, of 911 36th St. NE, Cedar Rapids, died Saturday May 8, 2010, at Mercy Medical Center. Memorial services at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Peace Christian Reformed Church, Cedar Rapids. The Rev. Gary Brouwers will officiate. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Anne; four daughters, Lydia Nickerson of Minneapolis, Minn., Bethany Thomas of Lincoln, Neb., Anna (Michael) Jessop of Philadelphia, and Rachel (Sean) Schooley of Washington, Iowa; and a brother, Wayne (Jean) Greenwood of Andover, Mass.

He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

Ron was born on Feb. 24, 1937, in Boston, Mass., the son of Whitman and Nellie Acker Nickerson. He married Mary Anne Clark on June 7, 1986, in Cedar Rapids. Ron was a minister for the Reformed Presbyterian Church of North America and retired from his ministry after 21 years of service. He was a member of Peace Christian Reformed Church. Ron enjoyed antiquing and refinishing, as well as spending time with his friends and beloved family.

A memorial fund has been established in Ron's name.
