James "Jim" A. Jenkins,
70, of Cedar Rapids, passed away of Lewy body dementia on Monday, Nov. 7, 2016, at the Oldorf Hospice House in Hiawatha.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, Nov. 11, at 10 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids. Visitation will be held on Thursday, Nov. 10, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Westside Chapel. Burial will take place following the funeral at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Jim was born on May 28, 1946, to Wilfred and Constance Jenkins in Storm Lake, Iowa. He graduated from Washington High School in 1964. Following graduation, Jim joined the U.S. Navy and served his country during the Vietnam War. On June 21, 1969, he married his best friend, JoAnn Oehlerich. He worked for Chicago Northwestern/Union Pacific Railroad for 39 years before retiring.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, JoAnn; their children, Jennifer (James) Johnson, Kelly (Andrew) Eirp and Heather (Brian) Stahl; six grandchildren, Zachariah, Arianna, Lauren, Ian, Bella and Braxton; siblings, Michael, David and Cindy Jenkins; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy.
