She thoroughly enjoyed family gatherings, where she would prepare her delicious homemade pies, breads and noodles. She spent many hours embroidering dish towels and pillow slips and making quilts that she would give as gifts to her family and friends. Virginia enjoyed playing cards and
Aggravation and "occasionally" going to the casino.
Virginia is loved and survived by her children, Charles (Linda) Carlson of Tipton, Linda (Don) Hillyer, also of Tipton, Carl Carlson of Odell, Ill., and Becky (Stan) Severin of Lowden. She had eight grandchildren, Chuck Carlson, Jim and Bill Hillyer, Olivia Johnson, Stewart Carlson, Patrick Severin, Shari Slaton and Sandi Kallaus; 23 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and
nephews.
Virginia enjoyed spending many hours with her wonderful friends, Jeanette Brendes, Arlene Hein, Evelyn Riedesel and Betty Lou McVay; and honorary chauffeur, Steve Hein.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Vince; sisters, Betty Younger, Francis Wagner and Margaret Shotwell; half sister, Lucille; brother, Harlan Garlick; and half brothers, Raymond and Ralph.
Virginia's happiest times were when she was surrounded by her family and friends.
