Kudos to Dawn Stephens and Greg Young for their successful move of the Luther Brewer home from a Mercy Medical Center parking lot to a new home in the Oak Hill Jackson neighborhood.
We also deeply appreciate Mercy Medical Center's role in saving this irreplaceable building, the last remaining home on the Fourth Avenue section of the 'Mansion Hill” district. Mercy's stewardship of the Brewer house in recent years was respectful and patient. We recognize that preserving this property required time, resources and vision. In this respect, Mercy is a model for other organizations in the community.
It's heartening when there's a preservation success story such as this one. Thanks to everyone involved in making this 'happy ending” possible.
