Margellos, John T. 'Ziggy'

John T. “Ziggy” Margellos, 46, of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, Sept. 16, 2011. Services: 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, at St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church, Cedar Rapids, by Father Ciprian Sas. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 23, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, where a Trisagion service will begin at 7 p.m. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.

John will be forever cherished and remembered by his parents, Tula and Nick Margellos, Cedar Rapids; sister, Tina Margellos, Cedar Rapids; brother, Pete (Lori) Margellos, and his niece, Anastasia, Cedar Rapids; his daughter, Madison, Orland Park, Ill.; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

John was born Aug. 19, 1965, the son of Nick and Tula (Karavas) Margellos, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

John was a loving and devoted father, who cared deeply for his family and friends. He had a heart of gold and would give the shirt off his back to anybody. He loved fast cars, motorcycles, playing pool, poker and golf. A man of many words, he always had a story to tell and could bring a smile to anyone's face.

He will be deeply missed and remembered by many.

Instead of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church in memory of John.
