Behrens, Karl 'John'
Karl “John” Behrens, 62, of Center Point, Iowa, died Monday, May 27, 2013, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 31, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Center Point, by the Rev. David Hansen. The family will greet friends after 4 p.m. Thursday at the church. Burial: Greens Grove Cemetery, Center Point.
Survivors include his wife of nearly 41 years, Mary; his children, Mark (Jolene) Behrens of Center Point and Sara (Scott) Chrisman of Springville; three grandchildren, Brody Behrens, Grant Chrisman and Luke Chrisman; his mother, Arlene Titler of Marion; siblings, Connie (Terry) Bright of Marion, Cathie Humann of Inver Grove Heights, Minn., Kay (Everett) Weaver of Marion, Chuck (Kim) Behrens of Cedar Rapids, Pam (Roger) Carlson of Fairmont, Minn., Lori (Mark) Lebeda of Toddville and Donna (Roger) Oellrich of Harmony, Minn.; and a sister-in-law, Jan Behrens of Robins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Karl; and his twin brother, Kent “Tom.”
John was born Oct. 4, 1950, the son of Karl and Arlene (Boehmke) Behrens in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. On July 1, 1972, he was united in marriage to Mary Buelow at the St. John's Lutheran Church in Center Point. John worked at Quaker Oats for 40 years and farmed.
He was a member of the Millwright Union at Quaker Oats and a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, where he served many duties. John enjoyed farming, tractors, fishing and hunting.
Memorials may be made to St. Luke's Hospice or St. John's Lutheran Church in memory of John.
