John Kevin Wallace, 53, of North Liberty, passed away Sunday, June 19, 2016, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City. A graveside service at St. John's Cemetery in Lisbon will take place at a later date.
John was born July 16, 1962, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of William and Mary (Daley) Wallace. He was a corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps. In 1998, John and Elizabeth Verdinez were blessed with their daughter, Mya. He worked for IAC for 22 years as a press operator and was a member of the Teamsters Local Union 238. John's passions in life were restoring cars and riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle. He also enjoyed fishing and cheering for the Chicago Cubs and Green Bay Packers.
John is survived by his daughter, Mya Wallace of North Liberty; mother, Mary Wallace of Cedar Rapids; and four siblings, Kathleen (Bill) Jones of Bartlesville, Okla., Joan (David) Burge of Mount Vernon, Francesca (Donald) Thompson of Mount Vernon and Patrick (Amber) Wallace of Iowa City.
John was preceded in death by his father and brother, Robert.
John's family would like to offer their sincere gratitude to the staff at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics for their sensitive care during this difficult time. John felt strongly about organ and tissue donation and his family was able to honor John's wishes.
