Rockwell Collins renews downtown Cedar Rapids lease

Rockwell Collins will continue to have a downtown presence for the next three years.

The company extended the lease for its downtown facility, 221 Third Ave. SE, through April 30, 2017, said Cindy Dietz, director of corporate communications for Rockwell Collins.

The downtown building houses 400 employees in the information technology department.

Rockwell Collins announced it would move some of its 8,000 Cedar Rapids employees from its main campus on Collins Road to downtown in December 2010. The company received a $450,000 incentive from the city for the move.

The aerospace company remolded and took over 82,000 square feet in the 190,000-square-foot Town Centre building, including part of the main floor and all of the second, third and fourth floors. The building has been owned by developer Steve Emerson.
