Iowa will test its AMBER alert system following a hacker attack that shut down a computer server that hosts the site.
The Iowa Department of Public Safety says the system will be tested at 9:45 a.m. Tuesday. Officials say the test will not include the use of the Emergency Alert System.
The site, which also hosts the Iowa State Patrol's crash report website, was shut down Nov. 27 after a hacker breached the site and reissued an AMBER alert from February. The alert was canceled within minutes.
The server was repaired and was back online last Wednesday.
The breach was the third time hackers broke into a state government website this year. All were traced to a foreign Internet address.
The Iowa AMBER Alert system is back online after computer hackers took the site down last month.
