CEDAR RAPIDS - City officials have given Nordstrom Inc. the green light to buy the land the Seattle-based retailer has been leasing for two decades.
However, the retailer won't be closing on a sale until final approval comes from the Federal Aviation Administration.
Cedar Rapids City Council on Tuesday approved the company's request to buy the 46 acres of land - 7700 18th St. SW, where the Nordstrom Direct Fulfillment Center is located - for $1,214,000.
Don Swanson, airport director of finance and administration, said FAA approval could be received yet this week.
'Speaking with the FAA, there were just a few items we had to take care of, my understanding is they are taken care of as of today,” Swanson said.
Funds from the sale will go to the Cedar Rapids Airport Commission and its use will need to be approved by the FAA.
