Salmon, Michael Brian

Michael Brian Salmon, 57, of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, Jan. 3, 2014, in his home. Memorial Services will be at a later date. Arrangements with Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.

Survivors include his stepmother, Mary Salmon; favorite sister, Amy Salmon (Mark Vogel), and her daughters, Lily and Isabella Hansen, whom Mike referred to as his “Chinieces”; two nieces, Meghan Salmon (Marco Di Ninno) of Italy and Shannon Salmon and her son, Elijah, whom Mike referred to as E-Dawg; and many beloved animals.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Chris and Kelly (infant); and many beloved animals.

Mike was born Nov. 26, 1956, the son of Robert and Jean (Isabella) Salmon, in Wichita, Kan. For many years, he worked as a self-employed painter in Cedar Rapids.

Mike was a very kindhearted, spiritual soul who loved rock and mushroom hunting, fishing, animals and spending time with his family and friends. Memorials may be directed to the Community Health Free Clinic, 947 14th Ave. SE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52302.
